What determines cost if vision correction
The cost of vision correction varies greatly across the world. As with all things related to cost, prices are determined by supply and demand, inflation, exchange rates and also minimum wages, to name just a few. This means that sometimes the price of goods or services will cost way more in certain countries than in other countries, even if the quality is not as good. An example of this would be the price of a cab in the USA vs in Costa Rica. That can be $10 vs $2!
The same is true for vision correction! Korea is a developed nation with medical costs more on par with developing countries! This is great news for foreign patients. You get the benefit of world class medical treatment for a fraction of the cost. In order to better understand how the cost of vision correction is determined you will need to ask yourself the following questions:
- Experience of the surgeon
- Which technique will be used
- What is included in the service
Cost of vision correction globally
Let’s take a look at the price of vision correction globally.
USA – The price of vision correction in the states can be as high as $2500 USD per eye. Vision correction is generally regarded as quite expensive in the US. This is rather high considering the quality of the procedure might not be as good as in Korea.
India – On the other side of the spectrum we have India. In India vision correction is very cheap. Around $850 USD per eye for LASIK. This is very cheap but the downside is that you would need to travel far for uncertain results.
Europe – In Germany the price is around $1400 per eye. Usually in Europe you will need to pay extra for services that are not included.
Cost of vision correction Korea
So what is the cost of vision correction in Korea? With Korea being a global innovator of vision correction techniques and technology, you would expect the price to be the same as the US, or even more. But in Korea the price is more comparable to what you would pay in India or Thailand!
The cost of vision correction in Seoul is exceptionally cheap. This is quite surprising when considering that Seoul has one of the most advanced vision correction medical industries globally and also that the opthalmologists in Korea are trained at some of the most prestigious universities in the world.
One of the reasons why such high quality vision correction procedures are so cheap is due to the supply and demand factor mentioned earlier. Korea is among the highest visually impaired countries globally. This means that thousands of people get vision correction, every single day! As there is such a huge demand the supply also increases, and that is great news for the patients. More doctors and more clinics means they have to remain competitive and that drives prices down.
Just like that you have the most advanced vision correction industry offering procedures at prices that are almost unbelievable.
