What is a factory clinic?
A factory clinic is usually described as a large clinic or hospital. Often times the entire building is owned by the hospital. Such a clinic usually has a large number of doctors on staff and even more nurses, consultants and operational staff. Factory clinics run very large operations, usually over the space of a few floors, each floor with its own department responsible for a specific division. In most cases these types of clinics have been around for quite some time, hence their ability to grow to such large capacity.
In comparison, smaller clinics, also called boutique clinics, usually only occupy one or two floors of a building and might have just one or two doctors that operate with a handful of staff. Boutique clinics usually have smaller facilities and tend to handle a way smaller number of patients at a time.
Are factory clinics good or bad?
When asking the question whether factory clinics are good or bad, one has to consider why this question is being asked. Sometimes factory clinics carry an undeserved bad reputation. Often times people think bigger clinics are inferior to boutique clinics because they might feel that a factory clinic, as the name suggests, just runs patients through like a factory line, without any personal consideration for the patient’s individual need. People assume that at smaller clinics they might received more individualized care.
In some cases, this might be true but the reality is that majority large clinics actually run very smooth operations, with many years of experience and adequate staff in order to facilitate a large number of patients. Larger clinics have the resources to employee more experienced staff and also to purchase a wider range of equipment.
Is B&VIIT a factory clinic?
Now if we ask the question if B&VIIT is a factory clinic first, a few things need to be discussed in order to fully understand. Cosmetic surgery has many sides, ranging from plastic surgery such as a nose job or a facelift, to dental care such as veneers and then of course vision correction. In the case of a facelift for example, it would not matter if the surgery is performed in a big or small hospital, as the results will differ from person to person based on the doctors work that day.
This is where the big difference lies between other cosmetic surgeries and vision correction. The way vision correction works is by having a patient undergo a series of tests, to establish whether the patient’s eyes are suitable for vision correction surgery, and if they are, which surgery. The options include: SMILE, LASIK, LASEK, Lens implantation etc. After the 2 hour testing is done all the patient needs to do is choose the method they prefer. Once the patient has decided, the actual vision correction takes less than 30 minutes. It is a very simple procedure with high success rate. The actual procedure is seen as a mere formality with the results completely predictable as they will be the same for every person. A nose job is the complete opposite, as results may vary for each individual.
For this reason it would make sense that the more vision correction procedures a clinic performs, the more accurate they will become at reading the data from the tests and the better they will be able to suggest the most suitable vision correction for each patient.
Therefore, it should be easy to understand that when it comes to vision correction, you definitely want a factory clinic! A factory clinic will not only provide the most reliable service and that when it comes to accurate testing they have way more experience. Additionally, one has to consider that smaller clinics might charge more for their procedures as they might not have as many patients per day.
So to answer the question, is B&VIIT a factory clinic, the answer is yes. And very proud to be the biggest one in Korea with over 500,000 successful vision correction procedures completed.
