Bringing Light – B&VIIT’s Free Eye Care Mission in Cambodia

Giving Hope and Restoring Sight in Pailin Province

In late November 2025, B&VIIT Eye Center carried out its second overseas medical outreach program in Pailin Province, Cambodia. This is a region where access to advanced ophthalmic care remains limited. This mission was made possible through close cooperation with local health authorities. Our volunteer medical team’s heartfelt dedication also played a crucial role.

Why We Returned to Pailin

Local communities continued to face significant challenges after our first volunteer mission. These challenges involve preventable eye diseases like cataracts and glaucoma. Many residents live with impaired vision for years simply because they cannot access proper examinations or treatment.

To address this ongoing need, B&VIIT returned to Cambodia with a strengthened team and upgraded medical equipment. They aim not only to treat patients but also to support sustainable eye care for the local hospital.

What We Did During the Mission

The volunteer program ran for three full days. It was held from November 25 to 27. During this time, the program offered free eye examinations, diagnostic testing, and surgical treatments.

📊 Medical Impact at a Glance

  • Total patients examined: 49
    • 26 men, 23 women
  • Total treatments and surgeries performed: 40
    • 19 men, 21 women
  • Specialized services included:
    • Cataract assessment
    • Retina and optic nerve evaluation
    • Vision screening and refraction
    • On-site surgical treatment
  • Medical equipment donated to Pailin Provincial Hospital for long-term use

Each patient received personalized care based on their condition, with many experiencing immediate improvement in vision—sometimes within hours after surgery.

Strengthening Local Healthcare

One of the most meaningful parts of this mission was the donation of modern ophthalmic equipment. This contribution allows Pailin Provincial Hospital to continue diagnosing patients more effectively. The hospital can still treat patients efficiently, even after the B&VIIT team returned to Korea.

Local medical staff received on-site hands-on training. This training ensures they can confidently use the newly donated devices. It also helps them better support future cases.

💖 Gratitude & Local Support

The mission was warmly welcomed by local officials. The provincial governor expressed deep gratitude. He recognized the Korean team’s time and resources. He also appreciated the hope they brought to those living with impaired vision.

The donated equipment was especially appreciated. It helped strengthen the capacity of the local hospital. This offers a sustainable benefit to the community.

🌍 Why It Matters

In regions where access to advanced ophthalmic care is limited, this kind of volunteer initiative can literally restore people’s world. It improves vision, independence, and quality of life.

B&VIIT remains committed to sharing medical expertise with communities in need. Vision is more than just sight—it is dignity, freedom, and the ability to engage fully in life. We carry out medical missions continuously. Through global partnerships, we aim to bring clarity and hope to even more people around the world.

Thank you to everyone who supported this mission.
Together, we bring light where it’s needed most. 🌍✨
