Leaders of B&VIIT Eye Center, Dr. Lee In-sik and Dr. Ryu Ik-hee, Recognized at the EVO ICL APAC Experts Summit and Leading Academic Activities
Dr. Lee In-sik and Dr. Ryu Ik-hee of B&VIIT Eye Center elevated the clinic’s global standing through their awards and academic sessions at the EVO ICL APAC Experts Summit held in Guangzhou, China, from April 24 to 25.
The EVO ICL APAC Experts Summit is an Asia-Pacific ophthalmology academic event hosted by STAAR Surgical, the manufacturer of ICL, where leading specialists in the ICL field are invited to share the latest clinical outcomes and surgical trends.

Dr. Ryu Ik-hee Receives Award for Achieving 15,000 Cumulative ICL Cases
Dr. Ryu Ik-hee’s award recognizes his clinical results based on cumulative data from 15,000 ICL surgeries. This follows his receipt of an award for achieving 10,000 cases at the same conference held in Japan in 2014, reflecting his continuous surgical experience and data accumulation.
Given the nature of lens implantation, the precision in selecting lens size and insertion location significantly affects outcomes. Therefore, the surgeon’s extensive clinical experience and the establishment of a data-driven, meticulous surgical plan are considered core competencies.
Dr. Ryu’s cumulative surgical experience of 15,000 cases serves as a clinical asset that substantiates these standards. His experience handling various ocular structures and cases directly contributes to enhancing the predictability and safety of surgical outcomes.

Dr. Lee In-sik Serves as Chair of Presbyopia Correction Session and Receives Contribution Award
Dr. Lee In-sik was recognized for his outstanding contributions to the advancement of ICL by receiving the “Outstanding Regional Contribution to EVO ICL” award at the conference. He also chaired an academic session.
The session chaired by Dr. Lee focused on “The Latest Clinical Approaches to Presbyopia Correction.” Ophthalmologists from various countries, including South Korea, China, Malaysia, and the United States, participated, sharing their clinical experiences and the latest approaches to presbyopia correction. A panel discussion ensued, leading to in-depth discussions on future directions for presbyopia correction technology.
Dr. Lee predicted, “The demand for presbyopia correction will continue to grow among the age group between myopia correction and cataract surgery,” and emphasized, “A tailored approach that considers the patient’s lifestyle and visual needs is particularly important for presbyopia correction.”
The awards and academic activities of both leaders demonstrate that B&VIIT Eye Center’s expertise in lens implantation and presbyopia correction is recognized on the global learning stage.
Moving forward, B&VIIT Eye Center plans to continuously enhance the safety and satisfaction of vision correction procedures based on accumulated clinical data and an AI-based precision surgical system.
